Associate Attorney
Ifiok Nwa is an attorney with The Montfort Law Firm, in the New York City office. He is proud to be able to use his legal knowledge to help those obtain justice. Mr. Nwa is passionate about representing his clients, and takes a vigorous approach to get results. Ifiok handles matters including Landlord Tenant Law and Real Estate Transactions.
Mr. Nwa received his B.A. Degree from The Ohio State University, where he majored in History, and minored in African-American and African Studies. He also received the National Dean’s List Award his senior year at O.S.U. Furthermore, while attending Ohio State, Mr. Nwa worked at the Supreme Court of Ohio in the Specialized Dockets Section under Justice Stratton. This project focused on recidivism with Ohio inmates, which included getting access to job training programs and continuing education courses.
After working in Corporate America, Ifiok attended Cooley Law School, and then transferred to Florida State University College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor Degree. While attending law school, Ifiok worked at Elder Law of Michigan, Anderson Stull, & Association, the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, and interned with Eastern District of Michigan Judge Denise Page Hood. This training allowed Ifiok to get a sound understanding of how the law works and how to take an aggressive approach to representing clients. While in law school Ifiok was on the Mock Trial Team, and served on the Black Law Student Association board. He also received multiple honor scholarships, was an associate editor with the Law Journal of Practical and Clinical Law, and received the Trial Lawyers of the Month Award.
After law school, Mr. Nwa worked with a solo practitioner and handled cases dealing with bankruptcy, immigration law and landlord tenant. He also worked at a real estate law firm representing lending institutions, purchasers, and sellers; structured and managed contracts, and negotiations; conducted title review work; handled loan refinancing issues; and, conducting real estate closings.
Ifiok is admitted to practice law in the state of New York, and Georgia, and credits his success to his parents, and family members for their personal sacrifices.
